Advanced Divorce Mediation, Malibu | March 2027
About the Event
Mediating Divorce cases requires an incredibly wide range of skills. Complex cases can include navigating relationship dynamics and grief, valuing multiple assets at different points in time, consideration of tax consequences, and working with parties on parenting issues.
This intensive one-day course will teach how to purposely structure divorce mediations to keep parties focused on problem solving, the future, and out of drama.
Participants will learn how to:
- Cultivate a disciplined professional mindset throughout the mediation process.
- Leverage prework to accelerate a shift to problem solving in joint session.
- Ground the parties in their future focused goals to deter slipping into drama.
- Implement strategies to remain neutral and avoid involvement in interpersonal conflicts.
- Utilize techniques for fostering a "thinking environment" to facilitate constructive dialogue.
- Organized the complex and chaotic negotiation.
- Leverage legal counsel effectively, both within and outside the mediation session.
- Navigate the parties’ mismatched grief cycles during complex negotiations.
This course is designed for both aspiring divorce mediators and experienced practitioners seeking to refine their expertise. Selina and David bring a combined 50 years of expertise in divorce mediation to this intensive course.
